रूढिर्यौगमपहरति — This means that the conventional meaning of a word is to be preferred to the etymological meaning as in the case of the word 'rathakāra' in Jai VI 1 44 ff, *vide* परा मा. I. 1 p. 300. As against this one must note another nyāya sometimes relied upon viz. योगसम्भवे परिभाषाया अयुक्तत्वात् (used by the मिता on या II. 143 about the meaning of the word स्त्रीधन).
