²⁴⁸⁷ The words for the three or seven Vyāhṛtis were supposed to denote *lokas*. Vide Tai. Br. II. 2 4.3 'एता वै व्याहृतय इमे लोका' and Tai. Up. I. 5 भूरिति वा अयं लोक' । भुव इत्यन्तरिक्षम् । सुवरित्यसौ लोकः । मह इत्यादित्य. । आदित्येन वाव सर्वे लोका महीयन्ते ।, The कूर्मपुराण (I. 44. 1-4) mentions the lokas from महः to सत्य.
