²⁵⁵⁸ यो वै बालाक एतेषां पुरुषाणां कर्त्ता यस्य वैतत्कर्म स वै वेदितव्य इति। कौषी उप. IV. 18. The conclusion in वे. सू. I. 4. 16-18 is that the person to be known is Paramātman and the words यस्य वैतत्कर्म refer to the world (जगत), and that this has no reference to 'jīva' or principal prāṇa.
