On a few occasions the ūravar acted as the lease holders of the lands of the rulers. Thus Vaṇṇiyanār Aḍaikkalaṅgāttār alias Nāḍumaditta Viśaiyālaiyadēva gave a piece of land which was a kuḍinīṅgādēvadānam to the ūravar of Tulaiyānilai and Paraḷi. They were required to pay in the dues of the nāḍu, but were exempted from the payment of certain taxes.²²
