They also exercised great influence over the policy of the government. They at times made petition to the government to do a particular thing which was done. Thus when the great Vaḍḍebya-vahāri, chief of (both sects) Nānādēśis Arjju bhaṭṭayya’s son Mahādēvaṇa made petition to Bukkaṇṇa Voḍeyār saying “Make Lakṣmīpura……in Caṅgaṇāḍ,” the king issued an order to his chief minister Sōvappa who executed the order with the help of the farmers of Navile, Haṇḍaraṅge, Pōsanāḍ, Allāḷapaṭṭaṇa and other places.⁶⁵
