MEDICINE. Medical science seems to have well advanced in those days. There were Vejjas and tikicchakas who knew their profession well, the profession which they had obtained as a legacy from their ancestors like Bhoga, Vetaraṇi and Dhammantari (Dhanvantari ?)⁹ The typical figure of a doctor can be discerned in the following gāthā, already quoted before:—
