Attempts have been made, it is true, to utilise the geographical information supplied by the *Jātakas* in the reconstruction of ancient Indian history and geography.[2] But these are, more or less, of a casual character, and no systematic arrangement of this geographical data, on the lines on which we have, herein, proceeded, has as yet been made.
