¹ Sāyaṇa points out that Indra, being the Lord of speech, is prayed to for success in carrying the assembly [**इन्द्रस्यैव वागनुशासनकर्तृत्वात् सभाजयकर्मणि तस्यैव प्रार्थनम् ।**]. The phrase **मामिन्द्र भागिनं कृणु** is explained by him to mean **भाग्ययुक्तम्** or **जययुक्तम् कुरु**, i.e. **सर्वामपि सभां मदेकवाक्यश्रवणपरां कुरु**, i.e. make the whole assembly concentrate its attention upon my speech alone.
