Policemen found guilty of violating women were severely punished, and in the case of a lady of a respectable family (*kulastrī*), with the extreme penalty of death. Laxity of control of Police over places of indulgence (*pramādasthāne*) was punished according to the gravity of the occasion. [*Ib.*].
