**Buildings at the Capital.** The *Kauṭilīya* city or the royal capital must have been known for its variety of buildings such as the State Treasury Building (*Kośagriha*), the State Granary (*Koshṭhāgāra*), the State Storehouse (*Bhāṇḍāgāra*) the State Arsenal, (*Āyudhāgāra*), the House of Merchandise (*Paṇyagriha*), the Courts of Justice (*Dharmasthīya*), the Council House (*Upasthāna* or *Mantrabhūmi*), the administrative offices or Secretariat buildings (*Mahāmātrīya*), the Jail (*Bandhanāgāra*), and the industrial factories (*Karmāntas*). It is interesting to note that the State Jewellery House was an underground building with three storeys (see references already given).
