**Account of Megasthenes: War-Office.** According to Megasthenes, the army was controlled by a War-Office constituted by thirty members distributed among six Boards of five members each. The six Boards were incharge of the following departments of the army viz. I. The Infantry II. The Cavalry III. The War-Chariots IV. The Elephants of War V. Transport, Commissariat, and Army Service, including the provision of drummers, grooms, mechanists, and grass-cutters. VI. The Board "to co-operate with Admiral of the Fleet."
