For instance, pearls of different varieties came from distant places like the Tāmraparṇī river in the Pāṇḍya country, at the place where the river falls into the sea (*Samudrasaṅgamapradeśe samutpannam*); Pāṇḍya-Vāṭaka, the hill known as Malayakoṭi Parvata; the river Pāsīkā near Pāṭaliputra; the river known as Kulā in Ceylon; the river Chūrṇī in the Kerala country; the hill called Mahendra; the river called Kardamā in Persia; the river Srāutasī; the lake (*hrada*) known as Śrīghaṇṭa; and the Himalayas (*Hemavata*).
