As regards the corresponding Persian silver coinage, it consisted of what were called *Sigloi* or *Shekels* of which twenty were equivalent to a *Daric*. They weighed about 86.45 grains. Such silver coins would find their way into India where they had more value and would buy more gold. Many *sigloi* coins have been found in India with peculiar counter marks closely resembling those found on the square pieces of silver constituting India's oldest native punch-marked coinage.
