The ascetic (*Parivrājaka*) has to observe the following injunctions: (1) Control of senses (2) Abstention from all external work (*Anārambha*) (3) Renouncing all possessions (*Nishkiñchanatvam*) (4) Life of solitude (*Saṅgatyāga*) (5) Begging in different places (so as not to get attached to any) (6) Living in forest (7) Purity of body and heart.
