Sources of Law. The sources of Law are stated by Manu to be (1) *Veda* or *Śruti* (2) *Smṛiti* or Dharma-Śāstra (3) *Śīla* or code of conduct enjoined by the Śāstras (4) *Āchāra* or the manners and customs of holy men.
