The Tarpaṇḍighi Grant of Lakṣmaṇasena, of the year 1122 A.D., shows that the same feudal-federal administrative and fiscal systems prevailed in Bengal as elsewhere.⁵ The conclusion is strengthened by the Bârrackpur Grant of Vijayasena of the 12th century A.D. Here also occur Mahâdharmâdhyakṣa, a great judicial officer, Mahâmudrâdhikrita, a great mint officer or keeper of the royal seal, and the same administrative divisions of Bhukti, Viṣaya and Grāma.¹ The Bengal grants of this period give unusually full lists of officers and state demands.
