To worship Durgā is to worship Motherland, or to worship Motherland is to worship Durgā. This is the cult that in diverse forms has been invented by the brain and soul of creative India from the Vedic age of the adoration of World-Forces,—or rather, as just indicated, from the epochs of the Indus Valley Culture (c. 3500 B.C.), down to the present epoch of neo-Tantrism represented by Bankimchandra and Rāmakṛiṣṇa-Vivekānanda.
