The data, so far as this particular book is concerned, have come of course from the Indian, and, from the nature of the case, old Indian texts. But the "world-view" has been a constant factor in the author's intellectual atmosphere. The institutions and theories of the West, ancient, medieval and modern, have been brought into intimate contact with those of India in a definite and often elaborate manner.
