The "new indology" has found able exponents among Italian scholars. In the present author's *Hindu Politics in Italian* (1925-26) attention was specially invited to the works of Formichi (1914), Bottazzi (1914) and others. Italian approaches to Hindu politics and sociology from the angle of secularism and humanism are discussed subsequently in connection with the "Kauṭalya Question" (Chapter VIII).
