The whole passage in the inscription is difficult, and ‘*kaiyūṭṭu*’ has been interpreted by the Tamil Lexicon as ‘bribe,’ which seems to be no more than a guess as no other text is cited in support of the meaning and as it makes the following reference to ‘*prāyaścitta*’ even more unintelligible.
