translated by Venkayya into ‘by any young boy standing close, who does not know what is inside.’ It corresponds, however, quite clearly, to ‘ēdum uruvariyādāṇ oru bālaṇaikkoṇḍu’ of ‘A’ (ll. 6-7), and surely means “by a young boy who cannot even by day distinguish (between one thing and another).” Note also the double use of the lot.
