Once, however, in the reign of Rājarāja III the assembly met under a tamarind tree (*nammūr-paṇḍanēri-ppuḷiyaḍi*). This could not have been due to the absence of a more suitable meeting place; for we have just seen that this was not so. We shall revert to this question presently.
