But generally the śūdra seems to have been deprived of education. Like Vasiṣṭha, Manu ordains that nobody should give advice to a śūdra or should explain the law to him.⁶ He strengthens this provision by enacting that a person who acts to the contrary shall sink into the Asamvṛta hell together with the person whom he instructs.⁷
