This name occurs then in at least nine different forms. It is noteworthy that most of our sources for this clan are those in the Jaina Prākrit, the others being mostly corroboratory. In these texts the word *Nāya* is most frequently employed to denote the name of the tribe from which the chief contemporary opponent of the Buddha sprang.
