The famous story of the feud between the Sakyas and the Koliyas, which we have discussed in other connections,¹⁰ seems to be founded on fact. Despite the good relations referred to in other sources, it is very probable that the Koliyas and the Sakyas sometimes quarrelled over the distribution of the water of the river forming their boundary.
