Pd VI of the remains of DHARANIKOTA is assigned to the 2nd-3rd century on the basis of its finds—particularly coins of the late Sātavāhana period and an ivory seal showing a *stūpa* with railing and bearing a fourletter inscription. On palaeographic grounds the seal is ascribed to the 2nd-3rd century. This is in consistency with the date assignable to the coins.
