A weighing rod of iron datable to the 8th century is known from SIRPUR. It is a long beam having a solid knob at one end. Similar weighing rods with measured markings are also depicted in sculptures of an earlier date at AMARAVATI, NAGARJUNAKONDA and the Gandhāra region.
