Badam, 1972, has reported *Sivatherium giganteum*, *Bos* sp., *Sus* sp., *Giraffa* sp., *Elephas hysudricus*, *Equus sivalensis*, etc., around the Zangam plateau from the *karewa* beds of Kashmir and on this basis assigns them to the Lower Pleistocene.
