v1.c15.s1.1

For a study of the technique of bead-making as also for a rich variety of materials used and types produced there is probably no country other than India which fulfils all the three aspects. Moreover the sources for such a study are numerous, the two principal ones being archaeological and literary. Obviously the former is more precise and tangible whereas the latter suffers from generalizations and imprecise chronology. In spite of these limitations the literary data are generally supplementary and corroborative, though belonging mostly to early and late historical periods.
