The last stage was of perforations. Indian beads show a large variety of perforations. Beads of semiprecious stones are mostly double-perforated, i.e. perforated half-way from both ends. This was done to avoid splitting up of the bead. However it resulted in perforations in a deviated axis which in several cases created difficulty in threading the beads.
