Though the bulk of the Chalcolithic Megalithic pottery is plain, decoration is found in a few cases. Some sherds of the red ware from KOLDIHWA bear black painting consisting of thick parallel bands, zonal designs, lozenges, strokes and zigzags. Some sherds of the black-and-red ware bear white-painted oblique strokes, dots, bands and lozenges. Incised and applied designs are available on some vessels of the red ware and black-and-red ware. Incised decorations consist of dots, strokes, chevrons, wavy, vertical, horizontal and oblique lines, criss-crosses, zigzags, lattices, diamonds and floral designs. A few sherds of the red ware and thick black-and-red ware have an applied strip of clay with thumb-nail impressions forming chain or cord-patterns. Sherds with ripple-marks or channel-like depressions are also met with in the red ware.
