Potsherds, light buff in colour and with a heavy turquoise blue glaze, have been found at Chaubara and Maholi mounds near MATHURA and at several other sites in the vicinity. The pottery has been dated to the Kushan period. However it bears no similarity to the reddish buff Kushan ware which abounds around MATHURA and is completely different from the later-day medieval (Islamic) glazed ware. The shapes, as ascertainable from the fragments, include finials and bases of *stūpas*.
