Tiles datable to the 3rd and 4th centuries occur at many places. Some of them are large in size. At MAHESHWAR they have the maximum breadth of 150 cm and thickness of 21 to 32 cm. Contemporary evidence of tiles is available from AHAR², BANGARH, DEVNIMORI, DWARKA, INTWA, KAMREJ, KORKAI, KUMRAHAR, RANG MAHAL, SALIHUNDAM, etc. At DEVNIMORI there are two types: one is rectangular and the other is semicircular with two perforations. At RANG MAHAL tiles are carved with rosette decoration. At AMBARI, BANAVASI and RAJBADIDANGA tiles have been found in the 6th and 7th century levels.
