(11) Urn burial: In an urn burial a lid-covered urn containing funerary goods like pottery, beads, ashes, bones etc., is placed in a cylindrical pit, and after placing some more pottery over the urn the pit is filled with clay and covered by a granitic capstone. The area is finally demarcated by a stone circle. Typical megalithic pottery, beads, including those of etched carnelian, and iron objects were found in urn burials at PORKALAM (Thapar, 1952) and MACHAD (Mehra and George, 1978).
