Besides, monuments are also found at the foot of the small hills of the region, e.g. around the HATHINIA hill and the BHADAHWAN Pahar. In Dt Mirzapur most of the sites are situated on the banks of the Jirgo, Belan and other small streams and their vicinity. The JANGALMAHAL area, lying south of Chunar, has proved to be the richest site, with hundreds of monuments, the concentration being near the villages BANIMILIA and BAHERA on the Jirgo. The s. part of Dt Allahabad is almost equally rich in megaliths, the sites being located mostly on the banks and neighbourhood of the river Belan and its tributaries the Seoti, Tundiari and Gorma, KOTIA, MANDO and DAIYA being the more important of the sites. Habitation sites of the megalithic people are also noticed at a few places. Though the adjoining Dt Banda has not been fully explored, some megalithic sites have already been found in its part, located mostly within a radius of nearly 15 km from Manikpur.
