While the origin of the chamber tomb is yet to be known, the unchambered burial seems to be of indigenous origin arising out of the impact of the former. Among the types in the Deccan and s. Indian Megalithic cultural zone passage chambers of the Konnur type are known from n. Karnataka only and the other types are variously found in different parts of the zone. The port-holed chambers and particularly the passage chambers are analogous to those of Great Britain, France and Spain, albeit with a large spatial and chronological gap.
