A kitchen of this period measuring 6 × 3 m was unearthed at NASIK inside which were found a *chulha* of clay, six large storage jars embedded in the ground and a quantity of charred bones. Legged querns, sometimes decorated with incised patterns, and cylindrical pestles [6.19] are quite common at the Sātavāhana sites. The remains of charred grains and animal bones collected at several sites show that the people consumed wheat, rice, *jowar*, *ragi*, *pea*, gain, etc., as also mutton, pork vension and fish.
