v1.c9.s2.4

The industries of the Indian Palaeolithic cultures consist of a variety of stone tools, distinguished by different terms, generally according to their probable function, such as handaxes, cleavers, choppers, picks, scrapers, borers or points and worked flakes. But by far the most important types in this list are the handaxes and cleavers, because their forms, being standardized, can be comprehensively examined in respect of technology and subtypes. The tool types do not display any artistic talent of early man but were manufactured with an eye to utility only.
