(a) Pakistan. Two phases of this culture are attested. Of these the earlier revealed a pre-ceramic assemblage, represented by mud architecture, bone tools like awls or points, chert blades and scrapers, pecked and ground stone objects, containers perhaps of basket and bones of domesticated goats, sheep and oxen. The latter phase showed the use of handmade pottery, often basket-impressed on the outside, along with other traits of the earlier phase. The pottery at Sarai Kotla, located in the Potwar plateau is highly burnished, being red in colour.
