(d) Chota Nagpur region [4.6.5]. The culture is distinguished by a coarse grit-tempered red ware, sometimes also slipped and showing incised or finger-tip decoration, and also an orange-brown ware and ground stone tools which included rounded-butt axes, faceted hoes, chisels, mace-heads (or digging stick weights), pounders and grinding stones. Here again no direct evidence for the domestication of animals and plants has so far been obtained, though the occurrence of pounders and grinding stones may imply acquaintance with husbandry.
