Burogaon, Dt Jhansi. Excavation revealed two adjoining temples facing a rivulet on the e. The temple walls were built on a cross-shaped plan, characterized by diagonal and angular projections in corners with a vestibule on *ardha-maṇḍapa* in front and with an intervening space between the two temples. The *garbha-gṛha* was circular on plan with a projection for the entrance. The construction of the temples on a circular base and with angular and diagonal projections is unique. The temples were brick-built but the doors were of carved stone. From the lintels of the doors, one bearing the figure of Gaṇeśa and the other Garuḍa, and from the discovery of a *liṅga* and an image of Viṣṇu it was evident that one of the temples was dedicated to Śiva and the other to Viṣṇu. They may be dated to *c.* 10th century on the basis of the style of the icons. *IAR 1965-6*.
