Kātyāyanī-putra, ‘son of Kātyāyanī,’ is mentioned in the last Vamśa (list of teachers) of the Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad¹ as a pupil of Gotamīputra and of Kauśikīputra. A Jātūkarṇya Kātyāyanīputra is named as a teacher in the Śāṅkhāyana Āraṇyaka.²
