Kauśika is an epithet of Indra as ‘connected with the Kuśikas,’ and also of Viśvāmitra as ‘son of Kuśika.’¹ A teacher named Kauśika is mentioned as a pupil of Kauṇḍinya in the first two Vamśas (lists of teachers) of the Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad.²
