Garmut is the name of a kind of wild bean mentioned in the Taittirīya Saṃhitā.¹ The Kāṭhaka Saṃhitā² has the form Ganut, which is probably a false reading. The adjective gārmuta, ‘made from the Garmut bean,’ is found in the Maitrāyaṇī Saṃhitā.³
