Go-śruti Vaiyāghra-padya (‘descendant of Vyāghrapad’) is mentioned as a pupil of Satyakāma in the Chāndogya Upaniṣad (v. 2, 3). In the Śāṅkhāyana Āraṇyaka (ix. 7) the name appears as Gośruta.
