**Āḷambara.**—The drum of the **Asuras** made from the claw of the crab of **Kuliradaha**. (For the story see *s.v.* **Āṇaka**.) When the Asuras were defeated in battle they left the drum in their flight and **Sakka** took possession of it. Its sound resembled a peal of thunder and for that reason, probably, came to be called **Āḷambara-megha**.¹
