Vaṇṇakāraka Thera.—An arahant. Thirty-one kappas ago he was a painter (vaṇṇakāra) in Aruṇavatī and painted the drapery of the Buddha’s cetiya. Twenty-three kappas ago he was a king named Candūpama.¹
