Bambhadatta (Brahmadatta) Twelfth Cakkavaṭṭi of the current descending cycle.¹ He reigned prior to Pāsa(1), the twenty-third Titthaṃkara and posterior to Ariṭṭhaṇemi, the twenty second Titthaṃkara.² He was son of king Bambha(1) and his queen Culaṇī(2) of Kaṃpillapura, the capital of Paṃcāla.³ His height was seven dhanuṣas.⁴ He had many wives of which the chief wives were: Hariesā, Godattā, Kaṇerudattā, Kaṇerupaigā, Kuṃjaraseṇā, Kaṇeruseṇā, Isivuddhi and Kurumai(1).⁵ Monk Citta(1) who was the brother of Bambhadatta in his previous birth, came to Kaṃpillapura, reminded them of their former births and advised him to give up sensual enjoyment and take to asceticism. Bambhadatta did not accept his advice. After enjoying seven hundred years life he left this world and took birth as an infernal being in the seventh hell.⁶
