aras are also born here in every cycle.⁹ Bharaha(1) was the first Cakkavaṭṭi of this Osappiṇī in Bhārahavāsa having his capital at Viṇiyā.¹⁰ Rāyagiha,¹¹ Tāmalitti,¹² Campā¹³ etc. are mentioned as famous cities of this region. There are three sacred places, namely, Māgahatittha, Varadāmatittha and Pabhāsatittha in it.¹⁴ It is named Bhārahavāsa after its presiding god Bharata¹⁵(8). It is a Kammabhūmi.¹⁶ There are in all five such regions¹⁷: one in Jambuddīva, two in Dhāyaisaṃḍa and two in Pukkharavaradivaḍḍha.
