This doctrine is not elsewhere mentioned in the Pāli or Jaina Prākrit texts, and seems to have loomed large in the minds of the earlier Ājīvikas. But it became an important feature of the doctrines of the Dravidian sect, and is referred to by two of our three main Tamil sources.
